Liverpool sent scouts to watch Kerem Demirbay on Champions League duty for Hoffenheim on Tuesday evening, according to Bundesliga journalist Dinesh Kumar.

What's the word?

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool have been in sensational form so far this season, standing undefeated from their nine Premier League matches and securing a fantastic Champions League victory three weeks ago against Paris Saint-Germain.

With Manchester City matching the Reds so far this term, further recruits are needed to propel Liverpool towards a league title that has eluded them for a number of decades and journalist Dinesh Kumar states the Reds watched Hoffenheim's Kerem Demirbay this week.

The 25-year-old caught the eye in a thrilling 3-3 Champions League draw with Lyon on Tuesday evening and, although there were other potential targets on display, Demirbay seems to be the man Klopp is eyeing.

Where would he fit?

Liverpool's biggest issue in the hunt for Demirbay is the fact it is not clear where exactly the creative midfielder would fit into a side that already boasts Naby Keita, Fabinho, Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jordan Henderson, amongst others.

Valued at just £10.8m by TransferMarktDemirbay would not be an expensive recruit but signing the two-time Germany international could still lead to a shake-up in Klopp's ranks - and Oxlade-Chamberlain could be left fearing for his future.

Currently sidelined through injury, the former Arsenal man faces a stern battle to secure regular first-team action when he returns to business and would have to overcome another hurdle if Demirbay was recruited by the Reds.
