Liverpool scouted highly-rated star during massive weekend game

Liverpool scouts watched Kieran Tierney in action as Celtic lost their Old Firm Derby clash with Rangers on Sunday, according to reports from Football Insider.

Scotland’s iconic Glasgow sides met in cup semi-final action, with the Gers coming out on top despite their bitter rivals being from the division above them.

The game went all the way to penalties, with Tierney playing all 120 minutes of the 2-2 draw, and reports claim that Liverpool representatives were watching him in action.

It’s understood that the 18-year-old is being assessed by the Merseyside club as they look to draft in a player to challenge Alberto Moreno for a first-team berth at Anfield, with the likes of Leicester’s Ben Chilwell, Lorient’s Raphael Guerreiro, PSV Eindhoven’s Jetro Willems and Cologne’s Jonas Hector also options.

The Reds are looking to spend between £5m – £10m of a new left-back, although it remains to be seen if Celtic’s valuation sits in this range.
