Liverpool set their sights on Reading starlet

Liverpool are considering a summer move for Reading starlet Jordan Obita, according to the Daily Mirror.

Brendan Rodgers has sent his scouts to watch the England Under-19 star in action over the past few weeks, as he hunts for a solution to the Reds’ problem left back position.

Jose Enrique has been out of action since October, with the Reds no closer to finding out the extent of his knee problem after sending him to America for tests.

Aly Cissokho has filled in since arriving on a season long loan from Valencia, although the Frenchman is unlikely to be signed on a permanent deal.

Right backs Jon Flanagan and Glen Johnson have also filled in.

Rodgers believes 20-year-old Obita could be the long term solution for Liverpool, with his performances for the Royals winning rave reviews.

Meanwhile, reports suggest Barcelona are keeping an eye on Brendan Rodgers’ contract talks at Anfield.

The Catalan giants are reportedly looking to sack Gerardo Martino in the summer, and reports suggest Rodgers is seen as a front-runner to take over.

Rodgers says he is in no hurry to open talks over a new deal, but Liverpool could be playing a dangerous game by waiting until the end of the season.
