Liverpool & Spurs chasing shock £4.1m transfer deal for heroic Euro 2016 star

According to reports from The Guardian, Leicester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Iceland defender Ragnar Sigurdsson following his heroics against England.

The 30-year-old latched onto a speculative header to draw Iceland level on Monday night, in an eventual 2-1 victory that will be remembered as the Three Lions’ most humiliating performance at a major tournament.

That goal combined with the 6 foot 1 centre-back’s dominant performance at the heart of Iceland’s defence appears to have opened him up to a potential transfer to an elite European club, with a number reportedly chasing his signature.

The Guardian claim Schalke and Wolfsburg have both contacted current employers Krasnodar, whilst Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City have spoken to Sigurdsson’s representatives and Liverpool have also expressed an interest.

The former Copenhagen star – whose goal against England was only his second in 60 international appearances – is expected to cost potential suitors a sum around the £4.1million mark.
