Liverpool star calls for ‘calm’ after title setback

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has urged his side to stay “calm” as they look to bounce back from their damaging weekend loss to Chelsea.

The Reds slipped to a 2-0 defeat at home to the Londoners to take their hopes of lifting a first ever Premier League title out of their hands with just two games to go.

Liverpool still top the table, but Manchester City are three points behind with a game in hand and a superior goal difference.

Should the Sky Blues claim the maximum nine points from their remaining fixtures, then the Merseysiders will need two huge wins from their last two ties against Crystal Palace and Newcastle to end the season on top of the pile.

Although there is a feeling of disappointment around the club after the setback, Mignolet has urged fans and players alike not to panic just yet:

“There are two games to play and we need to look at them. We now start working towards Crystal Palace.” He is quoted by the Daily Star.

“We go the last two games as we have played this season. There are still many games to play for us, Manchester City and Chelsea.

“The only thing we can do is stay calm and try to bring the last matches of the season to a successful conclusion and play like we played all season.”
