Liverpool star going nowhere says agent

Liverpool 'keeper Pepe Reina

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina‘s agent has denied rumours linking his client with a move away from Anfield, according to The Express.

Manuel Garcia Quilon, who represents the goalkeeper, has spoken out after reports had linked Reina with a transfer to Barcelona, and more recently, Napoli.

“Reina has been clear in recent days his thoughts, his future is still at Liverpool,”¬†Quilon said.

“At the moment there are no chances for Napoli and Barcelona.”

A move to Napoli would reunite Reina with manager Rafa Benitez, who brought the Spaniard to the club in 2005. But Quilon was quick to confirm where Reina will be playing next season.

“Pepe considers Benitez a great coach but his future will still be at Anfield,” he added.

The 30-year-old has been tipped as a replacement for Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who has just one year left on his contract.

This speculation has led to the Reds being linked with a number of keepers, including Simon Mignolet and Asmir Begovic.

Reina kept 14 clean sheets last season, as Liverpool finished 7th in the Premier League. The Spaniard, who was the penalty shootout hero in the 2006 FA Cup Final, has been criticised recently for making costly mistakes.

His error of judgement at Manchester City denied the Reds a chance of claiming all three points at the Etihad, after he allowed Sergio Aguero to score into an open net.

Is Reina still the right man for the Reds? Or should they allow the Spaniard to leave the club?
