Liverpool star ISN’T happy about sticking a goal past former Everton keeper

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel

Liverpool centre-back Martin Skrtel was the unfortunate victim of a goalkeeping howler in Slovakia’s World Cup Qualifier against Greece on Friday.

The defender, who captains his national team, appeared to be under little pressure as he casually swept the ball back to goalkeeper Jan Mucha, with the game delicately poised at 0-0 in the 43rd minute.

But unfortunately for Skrtel, Mucha produced an error of epic proportions, with the tame pass rolling under his foot and into the back of the net.

As the perplexed defender looked on, bemused fans may have been reminded of an error by a certain Peter Enckelman of Aston Villa back in 2002.

It was a cruel blow for the Slovakians, who despite being out of the running for a place at next year’s World Cup had acquitted themselves well against the 2004 EURO Winners.

They went on to lose the match 1-0, with Skrtel’s the only goal of the game,  I wonder if the Liverpool man knew his Goalkeeper used to play for Everton?
