Liverpool star set for Barcelona move

Pepe ReinaLiverpool’s Pepe Reina will join Barcelona at the end of the season, according to reports from The Metro.

The Spaniard has been mooted as the long-term replacement for Nou Camp number one Victor Valdes for some time, after it emerged that the stopper will leave the Catalan giants at the end of the current campaign.

This prompted the Reds to swoop for Sunderland’s Simon Mignolet over the summer, which in turn saw Reina complete a loan move to Napoli – where he joined former Anfield manager Rafael Benitez.

Some had speculated that Barca’s interest in the 31-year-old has cooled, it is now believed that he will not return to Liverpool and has already agreed a deal with the La Liga Champions.

Reina still has three years remaining on his current deal on Merseyside, but is prepared never to return to the club he signed for from Villarreal in 2005.

He is said to believe that the move will give him a greater chance of becoming Spain’s first choice goalkeeper, which is a position he has been battling for for some time.

Barcelona are also said to be keen on Chelsea youngster Thibaut Courtois, but the Blues are desperate to keep him long-term.
