According to the Daily Star, in-form Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling is expected to reject advances from the likes of Real Madrid by signing a new deal at Anfield.
The 20-year-old has finally broken his silence regarding the contract saga, revealing that “we’re working on it and hopefully it will be sorted soon.”
Whilst such a sound-bite is hardly conclusive evidence either way, it is largely believed in-and-around Anfield that Brendan Rodgers has managed to convince his young talent to sign a new contract after he reportedly rejected the first offer on the table.
The new deal, said to be in the region of £100,000 a week, should be enough to see off attention from Europe’s biggest clubs, including Real Madrid, who have supposedly registered an interest in the Jamaican-born forward in the past.
Sterling’s goal on the weekend against Southampton saw Liverpool record a solid 2 – 0 win over Ronald Koeman’s plucky side, and continued the Reds’ steady rise back up the Premier League table.
