Liverpool are prepared to offer Raheem Sterling a new £100,000-a-week contract that includes a £60million buy-out clause as they look to fend off interest from Real Madrid.
Sterling is expected to agree on a new deal in the next few weeks, and while Real Madrid are reportedly interested in the 19-year-old, the Reds are ready to fight to keep the starlet at Anfield.
The offer echoes a deal signed by Luis Suarez last season, where Liverpool added a hefty £75 million release clause in the Uruguayan’s contract to ensure that they wouldn’t miss out on a big-money windfall on the striker should he leave.
Although Suarez did end up departing Liverpool for Barcelona in the summer, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers will be hoping that the same does not happen with Sterling, who has been a bright spark in an otherwise dismal start to the Premier League season for the Anfield outfit.
The England international has three years left on his current deal but Liverpool are hoping to conclude negotiations on a new and improved five-year deal at the end of this month.
