Liverpool still in hunt for Argentine hit-man

Liverpool have not yet given up on signing Ezequiel Lavezzi and will launch an £18.5m move for him when the full amount for Luis Suarez is received from Barcelona, according to reports from The Express.

The Reds have been heavily linked with the Paris Saint-Germain attacker in recent days, but rumours have suggested that he’s more interested in a switch to Italy – where he shone for Napoli.

Juventus and AC Milan are said to be keen on him, while Chelsea have been aligned with the energetic front-man in the past.

But Liverpool have not been deterred, and will push ahead with a move for him as soon as Barca stump up the cash for Suarez.

It is reported that Liverpool are still waiting on a big chunk of the £75m fee agreed for the Uruguayan and they’re reluctant to push their summer spend beyond the £100m mark until the balance is received.

Brendan Rodgers is ready to allocate £18.5m to get Lavezzi from PSG, with the South American seen as an ideal replacement for ‘El Pistolero’.

The Parisians themselves are willing to sell the 29-year-old as they aim to clear space for the arrival of Angel di Maria.
