Liverpool still in mix for £14m deadline day striker

Liverpool could yet make a late addition before the transfer window closes, with reports from The Metro claiming that a £14m swoop for PSG’s Ezequiel Lavezzi is not yet dead.

The Reds have been linked with the Argentine since last summer when they were shopping for replacements for Luis Suarez, and have been again aligned with him over the course of the last month.

Lavezzi has been a key man for PSG in their Middle Eastern-backed era of success, but he’s understood to have riled manager Laurent Blanc after reporting late for a winter training camp, leading to talk of an exit.

Napoli were firmly in the hunt, yet the Italians have ruled out a deal, leaving the path clear for the Merseysiders.

Reports claim that a £14m offer could be enough for the 29-year-old, but whether or not the Anfield giants can beat the deadline to do a deal remains unclear.

Liverpool famously missed out on Yevhen Konoplyanka 12 months ago after failing to get a swoop processed before the cut-off point.
