Mario Balotelli will be a Liverpool success and has been the subject of some unfair criticism since his move to Anfield, according to Robbie Fowler.
The Italy international joined the Reds from AC Milan in a £16m deal over the summer, and has endured a tough start to life on Merseyside.
With his first Premier League goal yet to come, Balotelli has found his work rate and suitability in Brendan Rodgers’ side questioned, with some fans and pundits even calling for him to be axed in January.
But Fowler – widely hailed as one of the very best strikers to have played for Liverpool – is confident that the 24-year-old will settle and show the Kop crowd what he’s capable of:
“For whatever reason, it hasn’t worked out for him so far,” he is quoted by the Liverpool Echo. “But Balotelli is a fantastic talent, he has scored goals everywhere he has been.
“You look at the clubs he has played for, and he obviously has something about him.
“He needs to concentrate on his football, forget about any off-field antics and run about a little bit more.
“Players always come and go, but the manager will always have his own tactics and good players adapt to tactics. Balotelli is a good player so we will be OK.”
