Liverpool striker Luis Alberto is expected to have a medical ahead of a season-long loan move to Malaga today, according to reports in Spain.
The 21-year-old has struggled to make an impact since joining the Reds from Sevilla in a £6.8million deal last summer, making only nine appearances in all competitions.
But Brendan Rodgers has not yet given up on the youngster, and believes some regular playing time and more exposure will help him improve as a player and his chances of eventually breaking in to the Liverpool first team.
Reports in Spain suggest Alberto is due in Spain today for a medical after a deal had been agreed between the two clubs, which is believed to include an option to buy the youngster should Malaga want to keep him beyond next season.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are reportedly close to wrapping up deals for Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez and Lille striker Divock Origi, both of whom have impressed in this summer’s World Cup for Chile and Holland respectively.
