The Italian international has endured an immensely frustrating time at Anfield since his £10.5million move from Roma last summer. Injuries have severely reduced his playing time and it is thought he has fallen even further down the Merseyside pecking order with the recent signings of Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas.
Borini, a former Chelsea youth player, had a hugely impressive loan spell as a Swansea player under current manager Brendan Rodgers and it is thought this is what swayed the Northern Irishman’s decision to sign him. However, things have simply not worked out the way Borini and his agent had hoped.
However, Marco de Marchi was quick to quash hints at Lazio interest telling Italian radio: “Borini is concentrating on doing well for Liverpool to beat the competition for place in attack. At this moment he is only concentrated on Liverpool.
“We are talking about one of the greatest clubs in the world.”
With over a month to go in the current transfer window there could still be potential suitors biding their time for Borini. Despite only managing two goals the whole of last season, Borini’s Anfield future may be handed a lifeline by uncertainty surrounding the future of Luis Suarez. Borini could be a key beneficiary of any sale and his agent is keen to stress this at the current time.
Liverpool fans, is Borini worth keeping?
