Liverpool take the lead at Man City, Twitter reacts

Liverpool have struggled to get going under new boss Jurgen Klopp, drawing most games and rarely looking much of a threat against anyone.

So many people had Manchester City down as favourites in this evening’s clash at the Etihad Stadium.

But Liverpool started brightly and were rewarded in the 8th minute as high pressing led to Philippe Coutinho dispossessing Sagna in the final third, playing in Roberto Firmino, who’s cross was guided past Joe Hart by City defender Mangala.

It was the opening goal that Liverpool fully deserved after a bright start by Klopp’s men, with the Etihad crowed silenced.

And as expected, Liverpool fans took to Twitter to celebrate their side taking the lead against Pellegrini’s men. Most of their delight was aimed at Raheem Sterling, but some were also aimed at poor ol’ Mangala, who had his head in his hands after his calamitous error.

Here’s a selection of the best tweets following the opening goal…
