Liverpool signed 16-year-old Harvey Elliott from Fulham last month, and he already appears to have made a big impression with the Merseyside outfit.

The winger became the youngest Premier League player ever when he appeared for the Cottagers aged just 16 years and 30 days back in May, and just a couple of months later he had joined the Champions League holders.

The teenager was named in the Reds' 23-man squad to face Chelsea in the Super Cup in Istanbul on Wednesday night, and if the training pictures from the Turkish city are anything to go by then the starlet could be in for a change of role.

In one image, via LFC4LIFE on Twitter, the usual attacker is shown as being part of a central midfield three in Jurgen Klopp's preferred 4-3-3 formation, while in another he is in a deep enough position in the mini training game to be battling striker Roberto Firmino for the ball.

Given the fact he is known as a winger – of the 25 matches in his career where his position has been recorded by Transfermarkt he has played 23 on the right flank – it is certainly interesting to see Elliott potentially being tasked with a role in a midfield trio that will demand some defensive work, too.

Perhaps this is a look into what Klopp is thinking for him for the future, and it will be interesting to see whether the youngster is handed his competitive Liverpool debut at any point tonight.
