Liverpool target bizarre Subotic & Ranocchia alternative to bolster Klopp’s defence

Liverpool are considering a shock move for Ludogorets Razgrad centre-back Georgi Terziev, according to reports from TuttoMercatoWeb.

The Reds are currently in the grip of a full-on injury crisis at the heart of their defence, with all four first-team options – Kolo Toure, Mamadou Sakho, Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren – set to miss tonight’s FA Cup clash with Exeter.

Although the former two are likely to return for crunch games with Arsenal and Manchester United next week, the club’s decision to re-call Tiago Ilori from Aston Villa – the Portuguese youngster didn’t feature for the Villans during his spell at the club – illustrates how desperate they are to bolster their numbers.

Recent reports have claimed that both Andrea Ranocchia of Inter Milan and Dortmund’s Neven Subotic are being eyed as quick fixes, but TMW believe that Terziev is now an option.

The 23-year-old Bulgarian featured for Ludogorets against Liverpool in Champions League action last season and is managed by the same company that represent recent signing, Marko Grujic.

This may ease negotiations, while it’s mooted that the player may be a cost-effective alternative to others.
