Liverpool target Ivan Rakitic has revealed that he may leave Sevilla this summer if the club fail to invest in their squad during the transfer window.
The Reds have been linked with the Croatian playmaker in recent times, as manager Brendan Rodgers looks to build a squad capable of Champions League qualification.
The Northern Irishman is said to see the 25-year-old as the ideal man to add some creativity to his engine room, and play alongside club legend Steven Gerrard.
Reports suggest that Liverpool are prepared to spend £12m on Rakitic over the course of the coming months.
The Spaniards have already sold Jesus Navas to Manchester City, and reports suggest that star striker Alvaro Negredo could also be heading through the exit door after a disappointing season.
Rakitic, although content at Sevilla, admitted that he may well consider a move away from the club, unless they demonstrate significant ambition this summer:
“I have a two year contract and I’m very satisfied and happy at the club although it’s true that situation in general is not attractive,” he told Sportske Novosti.
“The club have asked me to say on, they said they wanted to build a new team around me. I told them that I want to see what they have done in terms of signings.
“We must build a team which will be better than this season. We will see what happens in the summer.”
Do Liverpool need Ivan Rakitic? Or should Brendan Rodgers be looking at other targets?
