Xherdan Shaqiri has moved to quash talk of a move to Liverpool by revealing that he will be staying put at Bayern Munich.
The Swiss star was a target for the Reds throughout the summer transfer window, with reports having suggested that the Merseysiders were close to agreeing a deal for his signature.
But Bayern held firm to keep their man, despite thinly veiled attacks on the club by the player regarding his paying time.
Shaqiri, 22, has been an infrequent starter for the Bavarians in his two years at the club, yet the Bundesliga champions have maintained that he has a future at the Allianz Arena.
And now the stocky winger has well and truly put an end to rumours of a move to Liverpool, or any other club, by revealing that he will be seeing out his contract at Bayern:
“I’ve still got a contract until 2016 and the club have already told me I won’t be going anywhere so I’ve just got to accept that.” He is quoted by the Daily Star.
“For as long as I am here, I will give everything I’ve got.
“I try to do my best in training and when the coach rewards me with appearances, then that’s even better.
“I’m always delighted when I can start games, and I show that too, like I did this time.
“I think everybody could see how hungry I am to play football.”
