Federico Chiesa is one of the biggest talents Italy has produced in recent times.
The 22-year-old winger is definitely one to keep an eye on as he has already scored three goals and assisted a further five across all competitions in 2019/20 for Fiorentina.
Not only that, but despite his young age, Chiesa has already been capped 17 times for Italy’s senior national team, scoring once in the process.
Interestingly enough, his latest bout in national team colours saw him net that goal alongside two more assists as Roberto Mancini’s men completely dismantled Armenia 9-1.
And for that reason, the fact that the young forward is being chased by the likes of Liverpool doesn’t really come as a surprise.

La Nazione (via Calciomercato) have reported that the Reds have taken an interest in the 22-year-old and could be looking to pounce on him.
His numbers already tell a big part of his story but who exactly is this young talent emerging from Fiorentina’s ranks?
To answer that question, we sought the opinions of people who know him best…
The new club owner, Commisso, seems to be a huge fan of Chiesa and back during the summer he vowed not to sell the youngster for at least another year.
Actually, he even went as far as saying that no amount of money will change this decision because the 22-year-old is simply the best and needs to stay with them.
Here’s what he said to Corriere dello Sport (via Football Italia):
“I said on the day of my presentation that Chiesa represented Fiorentina in the national team.
“For me, he’s the best. I won’t sell him, not even for €100m (£84m). We don’t need the money.
“I’ve been told that he has no release clause in his contract. I want to keep Chiesa for at least another season, and when I say ‘at least’ I mean I’d like to keep him for longer, but let’s see.
“I hope Federico [has] a great tournament, he’s a player that excites me. He has passion and strength – characteristics I want to see at Fiorentina.”
The former Arsenal striker and current ESPN pundit, Mariner, seems to believe Chiesa is going straight to the top.
Just recently, when they were discussing the 22-year-old talent, the former Gunner simply showered him with praise, stating that everyone seems to think Chiesa is going to be among the best out there.
Who the heck is that?! Can you name all 25 of these obscure Liverpool signings…
After all, when you have all the European giants after you, that has to mean something, right?
Here’s what Mariner said for ESPN (via Express):
“This kid is going to be a top, top player. I saw him play last week.
“Well here’s the thing. You’ve got United after him, Real Madrid are after him, Bayern are after him. You name it, they’re in for him. Everybody that you talk to says he’s going to be a top player.
“But will he go to United or will he go to Real Madrid? I’m not quite sure. But this guy is going to be a hit.”
Bruno Conti was part of the squad that won the World Cup in 1982 and he assisted one of the three goals that ended up toppling Germany and giving Italy the crown.
He also won 47 caps in total, scoring five goals in the process. As far as club football goes, he spent the vast majority of his career at Roma, playing 402 games and scoring 47 goals along with five assists.
When he was talking about Chiesa and his abilities, he compared the 22-year-old to the younger version of himself, praising his versatility and technique.
Here’s what he said for La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Football Italia):
“He has all the quality to do well, because he is a genuine talent.
“Much like me, he can play on either flank depending on whether the Coach asks him to get to the by-line and cross or pull back inside and try for a shot. In order to do that, you need your basic technique to be flawless.
“That’s not even taking into account that Chiesa has a great eye for goal and is physically strong, which enables him to switch gears quickly from defence to attack. I see in Chiesa the same desire to learn and spirit of sacrifice that I had, along with players like Franco Causio and Claudio Sala.”
Chiesa seems like the real deal and the next big thing coming from Italy’s ranks.
If all of these comments are anything to go by, Jurgen Klopp should be trying to snatch the young forward away from Fiorentina.
Let’s see if he can actually make that happen.
Elsewhere, Spurs landing Roma’s gunman would have big implications on one of their youngster’s careers…
