Liverpool target pokes fun at transfer talk

Liverpool transfer target Danilo has poked fun at speculation linking him with the likes of the Reds, Real Madrid and Barcelona by claiming that there are “better-looking faces” that could be in the newspapers.

The 23-year-old right-back has been impressive for Portuguese giants Porto of late, and has been linked with a move away from the Estadio do Dragao.

Liverpool are thought to be among the pack of chasing sides, with the future of Glen Johnson up in the air.

The experienced England international’s contract expires at the end of the season, and his decline has been alarming.

As well as the Reds, Barca are thought to be interested as they plan for life after Daniel Alves, while Real Madrid are also in the mix.

And Danilo – who is running his contract down and is reluctant to commit to a new deal – has made light of the speculation about his future:

“There are far better-looking faces than mine to be appearing all the time on the front pages of the papers but I know it’s normal that if you play well for this club then other clubs start looking at you.” He is quoted by the Daily Mail.
