Reported Liverpool transfer target Timo Werner has hinted that he'd be open to a move to Anfield, in an interview with Sky Sports Germany, via Sky Sports.

What did he say?

ESPN reported last month that there are ongoing talks over a deal that would see him join the Reds.

Speaking about speculation linking him with the European champions, the Germany international said, via Sky Sports: "Last year, until I extended my contract, it was always Bayern Munich [that I was linked with]. Now Liverpool has come up through the media and through our game in England.

"You have there the best coach in the world with Jurgen Klopp.

"There are many things that would suggest that my style of play might be a good fit, but I'm not worried about it because we have so much to do with Leipzig."

Open to a move

The 23-year-old surely wouldn’t speak that glowingly about Klopp, as well as how he would be a good fit for the Merseyside outfit, if he wasn't interested in a summer transfer.

The striker may well be concentrating on helping Leipzig for the remainder of the campaign, but these comments only fuel the fire that he is eyeing a summer exit from the Bundesliga club.

No clues: Can you name the season these iconic Liverpool images belong to?

The fact that Sport1 suggested on Monday that Werner's release clause could be as low as an initial €30m (£25.2m) would certainly mean he is an attractive proposition for Liverpool.

Indeed, he has scored 27 goals and provided a further 11 assists in 33 appearances in all competitions this term.

Not only would the German be able to provide some stiff competition for Roberto Firmino through the middle, but the fact that he has also played on the left wing four times this term in matches where Transfermarkt has recorded his position suggests he could cover for Sadio Mane, too.
