Liverpool to adopt Real Madrid transfer model

According to reports from The Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are planning to insert more buyback clauses in the sale of their young stars – starting with the transfer of Sergi Canos.

The Spain U19 is set to leave Anfield this summer, having already accepted £2.5million bids from Norwich City and Bristol City, but want to include a buyback clause in any potential deal.

The Reds are adopting the approach of El Clasico giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, who regularly agree buyback fees for departing stars.

The most recent example is Alvaro Morata, who re-signed for Real Madrid this summer at a cost of £23million after leaving for Juventus back in summer 2014.

Los Blancos have masterminded similar deals for Danilo and Casemiro in recent years, who both featured regularly for the first team last season.

In regards to Canos, the potential value of his buyback fee remains unknown. But The Liverpool Echo believe it could be structured to increase across a number of seasons.
