The Slovakian international has registered 319 appearances across all competitions for the Reds since signing from Zenit St. Petersburg in January 2008.
But the 31-year-old has notably slumped down the pecking order since Jurgen Klopp’s appointment as Anfield boss in October, making just five Premier League appearances since the turn of the year.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Fenerbahce had launched an official transfer bid for the rugged centre-half, who started all four of his country’s Euro 2016 fixtures.
And it appears Skrte’s move to the Super Lig giants is on the verge of completion, with The Liverpool Echo claiming it’s expected to be wrapped up by the end of the week.
That follows recent comments from Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim, who told Turkish news outlet AMK Spor: ““(Gregory) Van der Wiel and Slovak Skrtel transfers are almost done.”
Likewise, the report coincides with Slovakia’s Euro 2016 campaign coming to an end, following a 3-0 defeat to Germany on Sunday.
