Liverpool to fight Juventus for Ivorian ace

Lacina Traore (Anzhi Makhachkala)Liverpool will have to see of interest from Juventus if they are to complete a January swoop for Anzhi Makhachkala striker Lacina Traore, according to reports from talkSPORT.

The Reds have been strongly linked with a move for the giant Ivorian forward in recent times, with his employers open to his departure.

Anzhi are currently gripped by financial uncertainty after their billionaire owner, Suleyman Kerimov, declared his intentions to stop funding the club’s lavish spending.

This saw number of top stars – including WIllian and Samuel Eto’o – leave the Dagestan-based outfit during the last transfer window.

Traore was one of only a few big name players to have stayed, but he is widely expected to leave at the turn of the year.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is rumoured to be open to bringing the 6ft. 8” front-man to Anfield, but he will have to fend off interest from Juve.

The Serie A champions are believed to be tracking Traore and are keen to take advantage of Anzhi’s woes this January.

Their interest in the towering hit-man has spiked recently, with reports circulating that Fernando Llorente – who only joined the club earlier this year – is already looking to leave.

Traore is also wanted by Zenit Saint-Petersburg and CSKA Moscow.
