Liverpool to move for talented young duo

FC Basel midfielder Mohamed SalahLiverpool are lining up January swoops for Basel winger Mohamed Salah and Will Hughes of Derby, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

Despite having spent big over the summer, Reds chief Brendan Rodgers is keen to further bolster his options in a bid to build on his side’s impressive start to the Premier League season.

The Merseysiders are currently third in the table, but could go top if they beat Arsenal next weekend at the Emirates Stadium.

Salah has emerged as one of Rodgers’ favoured targets ahead of the New Year, with the Egyptian having been in fine form.

The 21-year-old has been impressive for Basel for some time, and is seen as the ideal man to provide greater support for Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.

Tottenham are also keen, but Liverpool are confident that a greater chance of first-team action may tilt the scales in their favour.

Hughes also remains the on the Anfield outfit’s radar.

The teenage midfielder is thought of as one of English football’s top talents, and is wanted by a number of top tier sides.

Andre Wisdom recently moved to Derby on loan, and Rodgers is hopeful that this may act as a sweetener ahead of a winter bid.
