The Merseysiders made approaches for the 22-year-old over the summer – which were confirmed by the player recently – but ultimately failed to land him as the Bavarians held firm.
Although he stayed, the Swiss international is understood to have reservations about his future at the club, with a lack of playing time a worry.
And now it seems that he may be allowed to leave when the transfer window re-opens, with his agent, Erdin Shaqiri, having talked up a switch:
“Now he was not released, but there is a repeat in the winter, and we will look at how many games Xherdan will have played by then,”
This could entice Brendan Rodgers back into the running, with the Northern Irishman rumoured to be looking to add yet another wide attacker to his squad.
Shaqiri himself is thought to be open to a move to Anfield, with the English side seen as one that can now fulfil his wishes of regular Champions League football.
The stocky winger is also on Juventus’ radar, while a host of clubs from across Europe may look to him.
Shaqiri started his career with Basel before joining Bayern in 2012, where he has been an infrequent starter.
