Liverpool to trump Premier League rivals for Barca maestro

Liverpool are in pole position to land Barcelona forward Pedro in the January transfer window, with the Anfield club¬†reportedly preparing to outbid Arsenal for the player’s signature.

The 27 year-old has been at the Catalan club for the whole of his senior career but looks set to leave Camp Nou after finding himself excluded from new Barca manager Luis Enrique’s plans.

The signing of Luis Suarez from Liverpool in the summer – coupled with the continued presence of Lionel Messi and Neymar – means that Pedro has found first-team opportunities limited, and while Arsenal were believed to be leading the chase for the player, reports in Spain now suggest that Anfield is his most likely Premier League destination.

Barcelona are thought to be seeking £25 million for Pedro, and are unlikely to stand in the way if such an offer arrives in January.
