Liverpool to turn to Italian ‘bad boy’ if Suarez leaves

Brendan Rodgers is ready to turn to Mario Balotelli if Liverpool’s battle to keep Luis Suarez ends in disappointment, according to reports from The Express.

The Reds’ talismanic striker looks increasingly likely to no longer be at Anfield next term, with Barcelona aiming to make him their marquee summer arrival.

Suarez is currently banned for four months, and a public apology he issued is rumoured to be merely a plot to entice a concrete offer from the Catalans.

Liverpool are understood to be ready to accept offers of £80m for the PFA Player of the Year, but could also lower their demands if Chilean star Alexis Sanchez is made a part of the deal.

Either way Rodgers is likely to have cash to spend if ‘El Pistolero’ is sold, and he could turn to Balotelli as a replacement.

‘Mad Mario’ is believed to be available for around £30m, and is said to be desperate to leave AC Milan in the coming months.

Although his temperament has been questioned, the Italy international has been praised for his footballing ability for some time.

Arsenal are also thought to be monitoring the ex-Manchester City man, but their interest is thought to have cooled significantly.
