Liverpool have already begun putting a hugely disappointing 2020/21 campaign behind them by picking up seven points from a possible nine in the opening weeks of the new season.

Convincing victories over Norwich City and Burnley were followed up by a frustrating draw at home to potential title rivals Chelsea, but manager Jurgen Klopp will be pleased with how his team have performed so far.

All four of his main attackers, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota, have been on the scoresheet in the early stages of the campaign, although it's arguably another one of the Anfield club's stars who has stolen the show in August.

After making his first team debut back in 2016, academy graduate Trent Alexander-Arnold has gone from strength to strength in a Liverpool shirt.

Last season was underwhelming for the 22-year-old on a personal level, though. He struggled for form midway through the campaign before injury ruled him out of England's Euro 2020 squad over the summer.

However, he has recovered in emphatic fashion. Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville previously labelled his fellow right-back as "out of this world" and Alexander-Arnold's recent displays have been exactly that.

As per SofaScore, the youngster has received an average match rating of 7.83 out of 10 for his three Premier League appearances, bettering all of his Liverpool teammates.

When taking a closer look at his underlying numbers, it's easy to understand why. Alexander-Arnold has created three big chances for his teammates, made 15 key passes and produced one assist.

He has also excelled in his defensive duties as well, an area of his game for which he is often criticised. The England international has averaged one interception, 1.7 tackles and 1.7 clearances per game, highlighting his defensive contributions in the early stages of 2021/22.

Klopp will be hoping that his star full-back can keep up this sort of form following the international break and aid Liverpool in their quest to reclaim the Premier League crown.
