Liverpool are considering a move for Southampton star Sadio Mane following their troubles in trying to sign Bayern Munich’s Mario Gotze, according to reports from the Guardian.
Mane has been heavily linked with a move away from St. Mary’s Stadium this past season, with Manchester United having pushed hard for his transfer.
Last summer, the Red Devils submitted a bid in an attempt to sign him before the start of the campaign, and during January they tried again to no avail.
However, United are now joined by Liverpool in the race for his signature, with Jurgen Klopp looking for a pacey forward to aid his pressing style of play.
Klopp was hoping to sign Bayern Munich’s Mario Gotze after a season struggling for first-team football, but the Germany international has reiterated his desire to fight for his place at the Allianz Arena.
The former Dortmund boss will therefore turn to Mane, who made 43 appearances this past season, scoring 15 goals.
