Former Liverpool boss Gerard Houlier has urged Liverpool to do all they can to sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, as reported by the Daily Star.
The France international has netted 21 league goals for the Ligue 1 outfit this season, which has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Premier League duo Liverpool and Arsenal.
And Houllier believes Brendan Rodgers would be getting a ‘world class’ player if he can bring the 23-year-old to Anfield in the summer.
He said: “He’s top of the Premier League in France, I mean Ligue 1, but he’s not international [class] yet and he knows that.
“But he can be world class if he keeps progressing and working on his talent. I was told he’s a very dedicated professional.
“So if he looks after himself and if he does the right thing, he can become really top notch really.
“He can become very good. At the moment he’s flirting with the international level, but he’s not a top international yet.”
The Daily Star claim Brendan Rodgers is a huge admirer of Lacazette and is eager to add him to a front line that already boasts Daniel Sturridge and Mario Balotelli, as well as Divock Origi, who will return from his loan spell with Lille at the end of the season.
Arsenal are also believed to be interested in the striker, with Arsene Wenger keen on boosting his attacking options this summer, with a potential title challenge at the back of his mind.
