Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has endured a turbulent few seasons, struggling for fitness and consistency, but one former Reds striker believes the England international should be a part of Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Considered as one of the best strikers in the Premier League when at his best, Sturridge has made just 59 starts in the league since 2013 and question marks continue to surround his long-term future, with Klopp electing to use Roberto Firmino ahead of him frequently.
However, speaking to FourFourTwo, former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has urged the club to back the forward and believes he’s an outstanding talent.
“Most definitely – he’s an outstanding talent! One of those players who can just make something out of nothing. He’s had a slow start to the season, but when he is fit and on form there are very few in his calibre.”
Sturridge has yet to open his account in the Premier League this season and needs to remain fully fit for the duration of the campaign to prove that he can be relied upon.
If he does end up spending more time on the sidelines, then the former Manchester City and Chelsea man could be on the move again.
