Liverpool vs Leeds: Four youngsters who impressed

Rather than Leeds United’s first trip to Anfield since 2003, a first goal from teenager Ben Woodburn cemented last night in the annals of Liverpool history.

The 17-year-old made his first senior appearance for the Reds against Sunderland last weekend to become the club’s third youngest-ever debutant.

But Cheshire-born Woodburn improved upon that record last night, becoming the youngest ever goalscorer in Liverpool history with an 81st-minute strike that secure Liverpool’s place in the EFL Cup semi-final and Leeds’ elimination from the tournament.

The Reds stars were queuing up to score when Georginio Wijnaldum found himself free on the break, but the ball passed through a cluster of players to find its way to Woodburn at the far post, where he dispatched a powerful half-volley into the net.

But as Jurgen Klopp and Garry Monk both decided to rotate their habitual XIs with an influx of young players, Woodburn wasn’t the only prodigious hotshot who caught Football FanCast’s eye. We take a look at three more youngsters who impressed under the Anfield floodlights last night.
