Jordan Ibe came inches away from firmly securing his name in the annals of Merseyside Derby history with this audacious run and shot against Everton at Goodison Park.
The young Liverpool forward first drifted left infield, then out right, before cracking the ball off the outside of the post:
At half-time the game remains goalless, with Ibe’s shot one of the few moments of quality thus far. Everton manager Roberto Martinez will perhaps be the happier of the two men in charge as his side can ill afford to lose this game after a difficult second season in charge.
The game is Steven Gerrard’s last Merseyside Derby, and the Liverpool captain has some form in this fixture, with five goals and two assists in his last six Premier League appearances against the Toffees.
However, Everton have their own Derby weapon in the form of Romelu Lukaku, who has scored four goals in his last five Premier League games against Liverpool.
