You might recall when England boasted one of its finest squads ever on paper – the so-called ‘Golden Generation’ – which included the likes of Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney, David Beckham, Ashley Cole, John Terry, Paul Scholes, Michael Owen and Sol Campbell.

Yet for all that talent they didn’t manage to bring home a single piece of silverware. Why? Well, the most commonly believed reason, as certified by members of the squad, was fractious, chemistry-killing club cliques.

Gareth Southgate has since acknowledged these warnings, and with the objective of creating a prosperous footballing environment in mind, has set to work on his England squad.

Oxlade-Chamberlain looks to be having an excellent time since making his return to England setup for the first time this month since picking up a long-term injury back in April 2018.

Maguire, on the other hand, is probably still sat on that exercise bike, looking as glum as ever, trying to figure out why he left Leicester City.
