Playing in the Champions League quarter-finals and semi-finals can be a daunting task for any footballer, but for a 19-year-old with little experience, it is another level entirely.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has embraced the challenge given to him by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, and particularly against Manchester City in the competition, the teenager has shone.

The England Under-21 international managed to mark talented Leroy Sane out of both legs, and he was part of a thrilling team that earned a 5-2 victory over Roma at Anfield.

The semi-final second leg against the Italian side, however, gave some supporters a dose of reality with regards to Alexander-Arnold's ability.

There is no denying that the teenager has shown composure and confidence on the ball in recent matches, but he made a few errors at the Stadio Olimpico.

Trent Alexander-Arnold stats v Roma

The Liverpool-born player was at fault for one of the goals that Roma struck in their 4-2 victory on the night as he allowed his marker to get past him with a mistimed challenge.

During the match, Mohamed Salah did not track back to provide protection for the youngster, which at times left him exposed.

Alexander-Arnold failed to find a single teammate with his crosses over the course of the 90 minutes, and his passing accuracy was the lowest compared to all of Liverpool's other outfield players.

The performance is not a huge cause for concern, but just a reminder that at 19 years old, the full-back still has plenty to learn.

In the end, Liverpool secured a spot in the final against Real Madrid with a 7-6 aggregate triumph.
