Liverpool are well on their way to securing a place in the Champions League Last 16, after beating KRC Genk on Tuesday night to put the Anfield outfit within touching distance of progressing out of the Group Stage.
Goals from Georginio Wijnaldum and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ensured Jurgen Klopp’s men beat their Belgian opposition, who pulled themselves back into the tie minutes before the break when Mbwana Samatta struck an equaliser.
The Reds’ victory ensured they moved top of Group E after SSC Napoli could only draw with Red Bull Salzburg, and are now five points clear of the Austrian Bundesliga leaders who sit in third with two games to play.

Liverpool did not have things go entirely their way on Tuesday night, though, as they spurned 25 shots and required Alisson Becker to pull off a top save in the closing stages to deny Bryan Heynen from equalising, after the midfielder was given acres of space to bring the ball down in the area.
Klopp’s men held on to their one-goal lead to win, and on-the-night left-back James Milner has since taken to Twitter to offer his thoughts on the game.

A simple post from the 33-year-old saying “job done – now to prepare for Sunday” seemingly caused a buzz in the Reds’ dressing room, as Wijnaldum replied with a short and sweet message of his own.
