The hero when Liverpool were crying out for one, Sadio Mane was there to secure all three points for the Reds in the Merseyside derby against Everton last night as he tapped home a winning goal in extra time after substitute Daniel Sturridge had struck the post.
The win moves Liverpool back to within six points behind leaders Chelsea and caps off a decent weekend for the Reds, who now sit three points ahead of an Arsenal side who have fallen apart with two consecutive Premier League defeats.
It wasn’t the best performance from Liverpool but Mane’s goal ensured the Senegalese ace would take the headlines and his numbers for the Reds, and the back-end of his time with Southampton, are incredible.

With 16 goals and four assists in his last 24 Premier League appearances, Mane has established himself as one of the finest players in the top-flight of English football and he’s taken no time at all to settle into life with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Starting all but one of Liverpool’s Premier League games this term, Mane has scored eight goals for the Reds and boasts four assists. That takes his involvement to 12 goals from 16 matches, a superb return.
