Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson are both doubtful for Liverpool's next game against Crystal Palace.

What's the story?

Salah was called up to the Egypt squad despite suffering from an ankle injury that he has been struggling with since Hamza Choudury's tackle against Leicester.

He was forced to pull out of the Pharaohs' two internationals, and he is now a doubt to face the Eagles.

Robertson, too, was originally penned in for international duty with Scotland, but he was one of a trio of Premier League players to withdraw from the Tartan Army's squad. Again, it has also been an ankle injury that he has struggled with, and he will be assessed before the match.

True test of their title challenge

Liverpool have made a fantastic start to the season. They currently top the Premier League by eight points from Leicester and Chelsea and are nine above Manchester City. Not only that, they are unbeaten in the top flight and have won 11 of their first 12 games.

Other than the winning consistency, the Reds have also been fortunate with injuries. Joel Matip and Alisson have been the only two big profile names to spend time on the sidelines so far this campaign, but they have fortunately come in positions where there are adequate replacements in Dejan Lovren and Adrian respectively.

For Salah and Robertson, though, it is not quite the same. Instead of the 27-year-old winger, striker Divock Origi will likely be the main candidate despite being a centre-forward - he has made two appearances on the wing so far this campaign. Whilst in regards to the 25-year-old left-back, utility man James Milner would be the favourite for the position having already featured there this season. Again, though, it is not his natural position.

An away fixture at a notoriously difficult ground without two of their most important players - they have seven goals and seven assists in the top tier between them - will truly test Liverpool's title credentials.

These are the kind of games they must win if they are to end their 30-year drought without a league victory. With Salah and Robertson having played with these injuries for several weeks, Jurgen Klopp's luck has finally right out. Now, he must find a way to win without two of his stars.

This is where he will earn his wages.
