Ho, ho, ho - Merry Christmas Football FanCast readers! We hope Santa Claus brought what you asked for and you're looking forward to what looks set to be a fantastic week of Premier League action.

Unfortunately for Liverpool fans, however, they're missing out on an age-old footballing tradition this year. Boxing Day games are often amongst the best of the season, providing an atmosphere like no other, but the Reds' next clash falls on Tuesday afternoon instead.

Indeed, Jurgen Klopp's side play hosts to Mark Hughes' Stoke City, who will be keen to put in a performance after losing their last three. With Liverpool in title-contending form this term, it's shaping up to be an exciting clash - but may well lack the usual pomp Boxing Day provides.

Eager to ensure Liverpool fans don't miss out, we've opened the vault to take a look back at the Reds' three best Boxing Day goals of the Premier League era. It's not quite a ninety-minute, Christmas slobberknocker - but should be enough to tide you over until Tuesday!

Raheem Sterling vs Burnley (December 26, 2014)

While Sterling showed great composure to finish in Liverpool’s 1-0 win against Burnley on Boxing Day in 2014, in truth this goal was all about Philippe Coutinho’s pure brilliance for the assist.

With his back to goal about 40 yards out, the Brazilian flicked the ball over his shoulder and into the path of Sterling, who took it past Tom Heaton in the Clarets goal before finishing low, with two Burnley defenders unable to stop the strike.

Fernando Torres vs Derby County (December 26, 2007)

On his day, Fernando Torres was one of the best strikers the Premier League has ever seen and he showed that against Derby at Pride Park in 2007.

Picking the ball up just outside the penalty area, Torres showed his power, pace and skill to nutmeg one Rams defender, cut inside another and smash the ball into the far corner.

The Reds went on to win the match 3-2 thanks to Steven Gerrard’s last-gasp strike.

John Arne Riise vs West Brom (December 26, 2004)

Liverpool supporters certainly had a Boxing Day to remember in 2004, when they thrashed West Bromwich Albion 5-0 at the Hawthorns.

Former Reds left-back John Arne Riise was known for his spectacular goals and his strike was the pick of the bunch in the west Midlands.

When a ball into the box missed a Reds attacker and the Baggies defenders, it ran all the way to the left side of the penalty area. Riise let the ball take a couple of bounces before firing a bullet of a half volley into the top corner.

Outstanding.
