Liverpool’s transfer target not for sale

Keisuke Honda

Liverpool have been dealt a transfer blow with CSKA Moscow ruling out the sale of star man Keisuke Honda this summer, as reported by Sky Sports.

The Japanese international is out of contract in January but the Russian club are desperate to tie him down with a long term deal as suitors are circling.

AC Milan have approached CSKA over the availability of the attacking midfielder but the Italian’s have been told to stop enquiring and stop talking about the 27 year old.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is not allowing the Luis Suarez saga to interrupt his approach to the start of the Premier League and new faces are expected to join the Reds in the next few weeks.

If Suarez was to leave Anfield then a bid for Honda would be likely but until then CSKA are refusing to allow their man to be distracted by transfer talk.

“I’m already sick and tired of the speculation around Honda,” CSKA club president Yevgeni Ginertold Russian daily Sport Express.

“We were waiting for the Italian side to understand they have to stop all this talk but unfortunately it did not happen.

“We expressed our position three weeks ago. We will not sell Honda to Milan. Neither for $5million (£3.2m) nor for 10. Period. Our club will never tolerate any disrespectful attitude from anybody.

“We were ready to meet their demands halfway in case Milan representatives acted in a civilised way. We were ready to study an official offer in case they produced it. But they decided to provoke Honda into a conflict with us.”
