Virgil van Dijk may be one of the best footballers on the planet at the moment, but on top of that he seems like a really decent guy.

The Dutch centre-back appeared on Liverpool’s YouTube channel this week to answer some questions from the club's U8s team.

As you would expect, the kids had some very interesting and funny things to ask the Liverpool colossus, such as whether or not he picks his nose, but one question in particular captured the attitude that makes van Dijk’s mindset one of the best in the world.

The Netherlands captain was asked what it was like to be the best defender in the world, which is certainly a viable claim given the awards he has racked up, but he was unwilling to take that title himself, instead saying it was just some people’s opinions.

That type of humility is a brilliant trait within a footballer and is symbolic of the communal feel around Jurgen Klopp's squad.
