Loads of Liverpool fans have been reacting to some comments from Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas, after he broke his silence on Nabil Fekir’s failed move to Liverpool.

In one of the more confusing transfer sagas of the summer, Liverpool looked certain to tie up a deal for Lyon captain Fekir, as Jurgen Klopp sought to replace the creativity lost by Philippe Coutinho’s move to Barcelona.

BBC even reported a fee being agreed for the French international, but the deal fell through at the last moment.

Many fans speculated over the reasons for the deal falling through, with most fingers pointing towards doubts over the player’s knee, a knee that was surgically repaired back in 2015.

Aulas says Fekir’s injury was not to blame for the deal’s collapse however, and has instead said Liverpool simply had a change of heart.

“At the final moment, the three parties did not find an agreement, but not just Liverpool and Lyon, who had had an agreement,” Aulas said.

“There was a change of heart from Liverpool’s point of view, as we were in a tight situation in that Nabil was about to go to the World Cup, we decided to finish (talks).

“Nabil at the time was OK with all of that.

“I think it (the knee injury) was one of the arguments that was used on the Liverpool side, but personally I do not think it was the real reason.”

Aulas is notoriously difficult to negotiate with, and needless to say Liverpool fans are not massively fond of the Lyon president.

Lots of fans have been giving their verdict on the comments and on Fekir himself, with some claiming the money was used on Alisson instead, others simply bashing Aulas while some still believe they will wrap the deal up in January.
