Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson has praised Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp for bringing enthusiasm back to Anfield and claimed the Reds are in the running for the Premier League title.
Liverpool are one of three sides tied at the top of the table with 20 points heading into this weekend and sealed their spot in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup with a victory over Tottenham Hotspur in midweek.
Since taking over from Brendan Rodgers last year, Klopp has led Liverpool valiantly, finishing runner-up in both the League Cup and Europa League last season, and he looks on course for success this season.
His side have been praised for their positive performances and Sir Alex Ferguson has weighed in on his view, praising the German boss when speaking to The Liverpool Echo.
“He has done a really good job and revived Liverpool’s enthusiasm. You can now well and truly sense that you have to count them in this year.”
“You can see Klopp’s dedication on the sidelines, I’m convinced his work in training is similar. He’s a strong personality. That’s absolutely vital at a big club.”
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool can end their 26-year wait for a league title, with the Reds facing competition from Tottenham, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea for glory.
