Manchester United make late move for Godin, Liverpool fans have their say

For years during the modern era, Liverpool have been in Manchester United’s shadow in matters on the pitch and off it.

The Red Devils are still leading the way in achievements, but this summer, the Merseyside outfit have had a much better transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp has brought in Fabinho, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson, who became the most expensive goalkeeper in the world when he finalised a deal from Roma.

United, on the other hand, have recruited three players and only one of them is likely to push for a first-team spot.

Goalkeeper Lee Grant has signed to act as cover, while youngster Diogo Dalot has joined United’s academy and Fred made the move from Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this summer.

On Thursday morning, United manager Jose Mourinho told reporters in his pre-match press conference that he is “not confident” about any deadline-day signings being made.

According to Sky Sports News, the North-West outfit have made a late move to sign Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin.

The surprise story comes amid speculation that Mourinho is keen to recruit a new centre-back before Thursday’s 5pm deadline.

Some Liverpool fans have been tweeting their thoughts on the Godin link, with some seeing it as desperate and others praying that United are unsuccessful in their pursuit.
