According to Spanish outlet Eldesmarque, Liverpool are prepared to ‘throw the house out the window’ in order to bring Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio to Anfield.
The report states that Jurgen Klopp sees the Spain international as the ‘ideal complement’ to Liverpool’s current attacking trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
Incidentally, it is Mane who currently occupies the left-wing position where Asensio featured 15 times for Los Blancos last term – the left side of attack appears to be Asensio’s favoured position seeing as he recorded most of his goal involvements there in 2018/19.

Klopp wouldn’t even consider dropping Mane for any player in world football right now, one would assume. The Senegal international hit 22 league goals last season, winning the Premier league Golden Boot as a result, and it can easily be argued that he is one of Europe’s deadliest forwards right now.
However, Asensio could offer Klopp something different in the position if he signed for the Reds.
The 23-year-old appears to be far more creative than the former Southampton man, who seems to be much more direct and focused on scoring rather than creating.
The Real Madrid No.20 also sent in more crosses than Mane did, whilst he also has almost a whole shot less than the Liverpool No.10 on average per game – his pass success rate is also significantly higher than Mane’s.
There is nothing wrong with Mane being more direct, it is what makes him one of the most lethal players in Europe.
However, if Klopp ever needed a more creative figure out on the left flank for whatever reason, Asensio seems like the perfect alternative to the vastly contrasting figure of the Senegalese star.
