Markovic criticises Liverpool for pricing him out of transfer, fans react

Lazar Markovic has become the forgotten man at Liverpool, and some fans may even be surprised to learn that the winger is still on the club’s books.

The Serbian international moved to Anfield from Benfica in 2014, but he failed to establish a regular spot in the team under then-manager Brendan Rodgers.

Current boss Jurgen Klopp has clearly not been taken by the 24-year-old either given that the player has been sent on loan to Fenerbahce, Sporting Lisbon, Hull City and now Anderlecht during the German coach’s time in charge.

Despite last featuring for Liverpool three months ago, the club have been unable to sell him permanently.

While speaking to Voetbal Krant, Markovic made a slight dig at the Merseyside outfit by reminding them that he is “still alive”.

“They asked for an unrealistic transfer fee and would not let me go permanently, even though I didn’t play there anymore. This goal is to show Liverpool that I’m still alive and I am still the same good footballer they bought.”

Given how prolific Liverpool’s attack has been this season, it is highly unlikely that Markovic will get a chance to break through.

Liverpool fans tweeted their thoughts after reading the winger’s remarks.
