Liverpool should relax whenever James Milner gets on the scoresheet, judging by OptaJoe’s statistics.
The former England international has not lost a Premier League game that he has scored in.
The 31-year-old has been impressive this season considering that he is playing in an unfamiliar role as a left-back.
Manager Jurgen Klopp has shown trust in Milner by fielding him in that position, despite having Alberto Moreno, who is well-versed in that area.
Switching from midfield to full-back limits the former Manchester City player’s chances of scoring, but Klopp has him on penalty duty.
Milner has netted six goals so far this season, and the most recent of which came against Liverpool’s arch rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
Paul Pogba gave away the spot-kick after committing handball in the box, and under intense pressure from the Old Trafford crowd, Milner calmly slotted past David de Gea.
The Merseyside outfit did not maintain their lead, but they did not go home empty-handed as Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s equaliser resulted in the club’s sharing a point.
The result means that Milner’s unbeaten run continues.
46 – James Milner has never been on the losing side in a PL game where he has scored (46 games); a joint-record with Darius Vassell. Charm.
